At Barefoot Junkie we truly believe that less is more and Vibram FiveFingers encapsulate this ethos completely. The less there is in the structure of a shoe, the more work your feet will have to do.
With stronger feet you can move better in many ways. Stronger feet can help you to:
* Run better
* Walk better
* Jump better
* Balance better
In fact, stronger feet can help you move better in the many ways our human form has evolved to do.
It’s for this reason that many of the styles Vibram shoes offer in the Vibram FiveFingers range have been developed to give your feet freedom, while offering a little protection from the elements.
For example, our super light KSO-Evo are perfect for the gym, running on the road, or other hard surfaces. Put the same sole on the KSO-Eco and you’ve got a versatile lifestyle shoe that almost feels barefoot, but also looks great with a pair of jeans.
If you choose to take your feet somewhere a little more challenging, like a cross country trail or a hill run, you might need a little more grip. Which is where the design of the V-Alpha, or even V-Trail excel, comes into its own.
But how about if you like your exercise to be a little more extreme?
Take a muddy assault course for example, or even something like CrossFit, which can involve elements of rope climbing, weight lifting and more ballistic movements. What can you wear then?
Vibram shoes realised something was missing, so it is for these kinds of activities that the Vibram FiveFingers V-Train 2.0 has been specifically designed for.
Underneath
It’s still minimal and flexible, with only 4mm on the rubber outsole, but there’s extra grip in that sole which makes it more ideal for rougher terrain.
There are also some really clever elements in the sole that can improve your grip in many other ways. For example, there are circular patterns in the sole that provide additional grip during more aggressive, multi directional movements.
There are also special traction lugs that give you more grip for things like rope climbing.
On top
The clever elements continue on top. Some might feel there’s actually too much going on up there, but when you think about what the shoe is designed to cope with you begin to understand why all these elements are so important.
Like a double layer around the heel for instance. Designed to keep the shoe steady and your ankle stable, while you dart around through mud, over obstacles, or up hills.
There are also two fastening systems. The speed lace makes them easy to slip on and off plus a hook and loop strap ensures they won’t go anywhere when you’re taking them through their paces. Well, you don’t want these bad boys getting lost in the mud somewhere do you?
Indoors
If you prefer your exercise a little less muddy but no less extreme, you might want to consider the V-Train 2.0 as a serious contender for heavy powerlifting, or the more ballistic movements that come with hard style kettlebell exercise.The V-Train 2.0 really is a versatile little addition to the barefoot shoe market because Vibram shoes understand that sometimes you need a little more.
You should be adding these to your shopping list if you enjoy:
* Muddy cross country runs
* Assault courses
* CrossFit
* Kettlebells
* Rope climbing
* Powerlifting
