At Barefoot Junkie we get asked a lot of questions about wearing Vibram FiveFingers, being barefoot and even questions about running and foot health. So in order to answer some of those questions we’ve enlisted an expert.
Jamie Lauder is a registered Osteopath. He runs Courtyard Clinic in his home town of Maldon in Essex with a staff of 5 other Osteopaths, physiotherapists and massage therapists. He’s also a lecturer for undergraduates and has taught in both the UK and abroad.
Jamie specialises in a branch of Osteopathy known as Classical Osteopathy which uses a systematic form of treatment called The Body Adjustment, a gentle routine of techniques treating the entire body, with the understanding that no problem in the body can happen in isolation from the whole.
He’s also a big fan of Vibram FiveFingers. In fact, he wears them all the time and has become very familiar in Maldon as that Osteopath who wears the funny shoes. He’s currently training for the Isle of Wight marathon next year.
We’ve asked Jamie a bunch of questions that we hear from both our Barefoot Tribe and people curious about the benefits of wearing barefoot shoes.
What causes plantar fasciitis?
In this video, Jamie tackles one of the most common foot injuries, plantar fasciitis. He explains what causes it and how Vibram FiveFingers can help.
